‘G.I. Joe’ Casting Updates Aplenty

Well, it seems Stephen Sommers has finally found his comedic sidekick for G.I. Joe and it isn’t looking good, but before we get into that IESB has confirmed with Paramount that Byung-hun Lee will play Storm Shadow and Rachel Nichols will play Scarlett. Lee is a big time Korean actor and Nichols is a small-time American actor probably best known for her role as Rachel Gibson in “Alias”.

Considering you don’t really know those people (unless you keep up with lesser known actresses or pay close attention to Korean cinema) that casting doesn’t matter a lick. However this new rumor that surfaced out of BlackFilm may interest you.

Word has it that Marlon Wayans is up for the role of the African American character in the film – Lamant Morris a.k.a Heavy Duty. Someone please tell me how an anorexic C-level comic is going to play the big burly Heavy Weapons specialist. To quote Eazy-E, “You’re only 60 pounds when you’re wet and wearin’ boots.”

The Heavy Duty character is pretty much a carbon copy of previous “Joe” character Roadblock, commonly known to be the biggest and strongest member of the G. I. JOE team. Good luck Marlon.

G.I. Joe is expected to begin shooting in 2008 for a August 7, 2009 release.
