It seems a leaked piece of concept art featuring what may or may not be a female alien character in James Cameron’s highly anticipated return to the director’s chair, Avatar, has leaked online.
The image was originally posted on MarketSaw and has since been removed at the request of the studio, which adds to the pic’s legitimacy. Whether or not it is what the alien in the 3-D pic will look like remains to be known, it very well could be just an early piece of artwork that will ultimately be changed in the final film.
While I have the image I am not going to put it up, primarily because I don’t want to deal with Fox and their cease and desist department. However, I have included a shadowed image of the pic below and I am sure if you browse around enough sites you are sure to find the actual image. You aren’t going to get much from the image below unfortunately… Hell, that could just be X-Men’s Storm with a tail… maybe that’s all it is…
Cameron’s Avatar is currently in production andis the story of a wounded ex-marine, thrust unwillingly into an effort to settle and exploit an exotic planet rich in bio-diversity, who eventually crosses over to lead the indigenous race in a battle for survival.
The budget on the film is being reported at $190 million and is set for a May 22, 2009 release. The flick will blend live-action photography and new virtual photorealistic production techniques and will be presented in 3-D. Our very own David Frank recently tackled the new gimmick of going 3-D, which Cameron’s film seems to be above, and I can only say he sounds pessimistically optimistic, if there is such a status… You be the judge.
