Jennifer Garner is circling that time in an actor’s career where they are deemed great or mediocre. Garner gives a surprisingly good performance in Jason Reitman’s Juno, separating her from all the action work she had done up to this point (Catch and Release was so bad it doesn’t count). Now she is going to take a turn at comedy and continue to try and prove just how versatile she is, and this one I think she can pull off. Lord knows she is in good hands.
Garner is in final negotiations to join Ricky Gervais in the indie comedy This Side of the Truth. Something of a Liar, Liar story, the film is set in a world where lying doesn’t exist. Story centers on an Everyman (Gervais) who figures out how to lie and uses his newfound ability to woo a beautiful woman way out of his league (Garner) and become a success at work.
Gervais will direct along with his writing partner Matthew Robinson. Filming is expected to begin in the spring.
