‘X-Files 2’ Set for July 2008 Release

Today 20th Century Fox issued a press release confirming earlier reports that there will indeed be an X-Files 2 and they have already issued a release date of July 25, 2008 release, one week after The Dark Knight, for the new motion picture based on the award-winning series.

Back are David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as special agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully with series creator Chris Carter aboard to direct from a script he wrote with Frank Spotnitz.

The storyline is being kept quiet, as the press release only said that the supernatural thriller is a stand-alone story in the tradition of some of the show’s most acclaimed and beloved episodes, and takes the always-complicated relationship between Fox Mulder (Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Anderson) in unexpected directions. Mulder continues his unshakable quest for the truth, and Scully, the passionate, ferociously intelligent physician, remains inextricably tied to Mulder’s pursuits.

Only two days ago we learned via ComingSoon.net that the film would begin shooting on December 10 in Vancouver and it looks like they were 100-percent correct.
