#1 movie predicted correctly: Two weeks in a row
1. The Kingdom
I’m imploring you to see this. I’m going for the second time this evening. So it’s not like I’m not walking the talk. It’s really good, very interesting, taut, well acted, and thought provoking. We must reward the good films, for they are so rare.
Estimate: $23.4 million
I’m sad for everyone involved here. It’s like the perfect mix of stupid kid movie and stupid sports movie. Isn’t there a way they could get some horrible romantic angle in there too? Regardless, it will make a little bank. What else are families going to see?
Estimate: $16.2 million
With no production budget released it’s hard to tell where this stands. The revenue is at $34.7m. The production budget for the last one was $45m, which would mean this version would need to hit around $75m to start feeling smurfy. It should get there. So, now, with our deductive reasoning we’re calling this a slight win for Sony.
Estimate: $11.3 million
It has made $15,000 in Latvia. Evidently the Latvians go crazy for anything Alba or penguin trainer related.
Estimate: $6.6 million
5. 3:10 to Yuma
On a personal note let me offer you this: If the Miami Dolphins keep losing you won’t find me writing this article anymore. Because I will be in a clock tower.
Estimate: $4.3 million
October can be a very lonely time for people. But I want you to remember that spark you once had. Okay, I’ll fess up, I just jacked that line from a self-help book. PS- The Brave One is icky. Not the good icky either.

Everyone I know likes it. Another movie like that is The Hours. But I can’t do it. I’ve seen enough naked man violence in my day.

8. Mr. Woodcock
It would be cool if the “Take a lap” punchline made it’s way into our vernacular even as the movie fails. You could use it at meeting. So if someone had a bad idea you’d say “Wow, that’s a terrible idea. Take a lap!” We should seek to find some value where we can.
Estimate: $2.7 million
Oddly enough the trailer looks really good. And a ton of people are in it. Yet, it has around $14 marketing dollars behind it which can only mean one thing. It sucks.
