#1 movie predicted correctly: Zero weeks in a row
This will get me back on top very easily. But it’s hard to predict a movie adaptation based upon a show that’s been around 20 years because there’s never been such an animal. This, the variance on this could be up to ten million dollars either way. So don’t blame me on Sunday, I’m warning you now.
Estimate: $43.5 million
Look for a steep decline as the American public figures out they’ve been swindled by Sandler again.
Estimate: $18.2 million
Who has read the seventh book? Not me. I didn’t want any spoilers to ruin my movie going experience in 2009.
Estimate: $16.8 million
4. Hairspray
Based on solid word of mouth and strength of reviews this film will stick around this weekend. Hey, I’m as shocked as you.
Estimate: $16.2 million
I have some reservations. Hardy har! That will be in every review in the world. But really, a romantic comedy without anything resembling a new hook will flail around before dying a horrible box office death.
Estimate: $10.4 million
6. Transformers
If Bay would just come out and say he meant this as a slapstick comedy the whole time I would be much more receptive to him killing my childhood.
Estimate: $10.2 million
7. Ratatouille
It will finish in sixth, but in a very solid manner. I mean it will really finish sixth, with nothing near or around it. What I’m saying here is that they’ve got sixth wrapped up tight.
Estimate: $6.5 million
I thought up the title for the next sequel; Dying in a Very Difficult Manner. Whatcha think?
Estimate: $3.9 million
Does LL’s (not me) arrest help the movie’s box office? And if so, isn’t she then the most dedicated actress in the field? I mean not just anyone would face a year in jail just to get a little film some pub. That’s effort.
Estimate: $3.2 million
10. Who’s Your Caddy?
I’m pissed to even have to talk about this one. I mean, a golf movie aimed at the African American audience? The tagline is “This summer it’s the street versus the elite.” Um, no. This summer it’s tenth place versus not even making the top ten. Sheesh.
Estimate: $2.1 million
