I have never been shy about telling people how much I despise Nicolas Cage as an actor, the guy is a hack. He is the same person in every movie, only occassionally he puts on a toupee (see Ghost Rider) or a shitty fake accent (see Con Air). Yet, he continues to get work and now word is coming out of MTV that he is set to play Chicago crime boss Al Capone in The Untouchables: Capone Rising.
Brian DePalma is back to direct the prequel to his 1987 hit in which Robert De Niro played Capone. Yeah, we are now saying that Nicolas Cage grew up to be Bobby D. Come on!
The film will concern Capone and the early version of Irish cop Jimmy Malone, who is as crooked as every other Chicago cop until Capone becomes king of the underworld.
Other than this news no other casting has been announced, but it was originally thought that this prequel would be released in 2008.
