It’s a ‘Fiasco’ at Universal and ‘Birds’ News

Just like The Hitcher I see this latest Platinum Dunes produced feature heading on over to Rogue Pictures as Universal has just picked up a thriller spec script from Kyle Ward.

This isn’t a huge news piece, but there are a few extra nuggets inside here to think about. First, the Ward script is titled Fiasco Heights the story, which occurs in a stylized “hyper-real” noir environment akin to that of Sin City, centers on a notorious hitman who teams with a failed private eye in search of a missing woman and an invaluable briefcase.

Secondly, the article also says that the Platinum Dunes remake of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds is hoping to begin shooting by the end of the year. That is a film I am actually curious about. While I was not a major fan of the first film since its scares are a little outdated I think it will be an interesting test for whatever filmmaker takes the reigns on it. Rumor has it that Naomi Watts may take the lead, but that remains rumor and considering her new baby bump and plans to start by the end of the year I am expecting she is out.

Also up for Platinum Dunes is Horsemen starring Dennis Quaid and Ziyi Zhang, which began production in February.
