UPDATE: Look what happens when you trust a music television site for movie news. Apparently VH1/MTV reported it incorrectly when they said Zombie had scrapped the original Halloween theme for a new one. In fact, Bloody-Disgusting has learned that Zombie only scrapped the reimagined one and the original will be in the film.
I don’t know what to think about Rob Zombie’s upcoming “re-imagining” of Halloween, the classic horror film John Carpenter brought to the world giving us the famous killer Michael Myers.
First off there was a terrible script review out of Ain’t It Cool News and then word that Zombie was doing some rewrites, primarily because Michael Myers speaks, something that outraged several online Halloween fanatics. Zombie responded to the review, which basically is summed up saying, “Deciding that you hate or love something that doesn’t even exist yet? Well, that’s a little ridiculous.” Well, I think this new change is a little ridiculous as it is the one thing outside of Michael Myers that really makes Halloween — well — Halloween. That is the music.
Here is the report as told to VH1:
One final change might just be the most controversial of them all: The dropping of the famous “Halloween” theme composed by Carpenter. “The plan was at some point to [remake it], to change it around,” Zombie said, revealing that it has since been shelved. “The actual way it sounds now doesn’t really work with what we’re doing.”
“We’ve reimagined the picture,” producer Andy Gould added. “Perhaps a reimagining of the sound is in order too.”
I really don’t see how a scary theme doesn’t fit what they are doing. Perhaps it is a love story now or something. Who knows, but I really don’t think most fans will be happy about this.
