Maybe this is why Ryan Phillippe bailed on Reese Witherspoon, because she just quits on shit. The Oscar-winning actress has reportedly left the production of Joe Carnahan‘s upcoming film Bunny Lake is Missing only five weeks before production is to start. Variety carries the story and it sounds like Joe ain’t too happy about it since he must now scramble to find a replacement in time (unlikely) and he is also supposed to go straight from Bunny Lake to White Jazz, which I can only assume jeopardizes Bunny more than Jazz.
The Variety article also carries a rumor saying that Carnahan has discharged Evelyn O’Neill, who had the misfortune of being the manager of both an angry director and the quitting star of his film, though both parties late Wednesday night denied that they’d split.
The curious thing about all of this is that Witherspoon was not only the star of the picture, but also the producer and the film was been in the works for three years! So why did she bolt? Who knows? Certainly not Variety.
