We already knew that the sexy Rhona Mitra was set to star in director Neil Marshall’s follow-up to his hit horror-thriller The Descent, and today Rogue Pictures revealed the rest of the cast for Doomsday.
Starring alongside Mitra will be just announced Golden Globe-winning actor Bob Hoskins who is joined by Alexander Siddig (Kingdom of Heaven), Adrian Lester, MyAnna Buring, Nora-Jane Noone, Adrian Lester, Sean Pertwee, Darren Morfitt, Emma Cleasby, Chris Robson, Leslie Simpson and Craig Conway. In Doomsday, a lethal virus spreads throughout a major country and kills hundreds of thousands. To contain the newly identified Reaper, the authorities brutally quarantine the country as it succumbs to fear and chaos. The literal walling-off works for three decades – until Reaper violently resurfaces in a major city. An elite group of specialists, including Eden Sinclair (Ms. Mitra), is urgently dispatched into the still-quarantined country to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through a landscape that has become a waking nightmare.
Hoskins will play Bill Nelson, a career policeman who nominates Eden for the mission and monitors its progress.
In addition to Doomsday, the release mentions that Rogue and Crystal Sky Pictures are partnering on writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson’s Castlevania, adapted from the top-selling video game and detailing Dracula’s origins. Intrepid has an ongoing multi-year production and co-financing deal with Universal Pictures and Rogue Pictures.
