Box-Office Wrap-Up: Jan. 26 – Jan. 28

I have only sadness about this result. Not that Smokin’ Aces was amazing, but we didn’t need another in the “movie” series. We just didn’t.

Result: $19.2 million (My rank: #2, $4.6m off)

A very good result regardless for the Piven vehicle. He was decent on SNL too. Now I can only hope they bring him back for Entourage.

Result: $14.2 million (My rank: #1, $2.1m off)

A very good prediction (low variance) from a movie that’s been around forever. It may never go away, it might get re-released in the summer to compete with Pirates 3. Logic has been thrown out the window at this point.

Result: $9.4 million (My rank: #3, $1.4m off)

Another good variance from your Oracle. I may be incapable of picking a winner but I’m solid on the back end. Music and Lyrics will maul this romantic comedy shortly, this was an appetizer for romance starved audiences.

It will be interesting to see what the SAGs bring for this little snubee. I hope they shove it in Oscars face.

This, like Night at the Museum continues to be the default choice for movie goers. Not bad movies, but you might be starting to get why I vacation in January.

I keep thinking this will go away but it never does. Is this result due to the Oscar nomination? No way to tell, but this didn’t fade at the normal rate.

There will not be a Hitcher 2. This is due to rising gas prices and the fact that you’d have to be a serial killer to actually pick up hitchhikers. Hmm, maybe with that script there will be a Hitcher 2. I’m off to write.
