Box-Office Wrap-Up: Dec. 1 – Dec. 3

I’m back baby! I whupped the pants off two other projectors and now I’m in the race for Oracle of the year (award rewarded by a panel consisting of me).
#1 movie predicted correctly: One Week In A Row
I had it stronger than it finished but it still won. Happy Feet is making a late run at an animated Oscar nom. With a month at the top spot I’m not sure how you can ignore it.
Result: $17.0 million (My rank: #1, $4.3m off)
The amazing this is that for all the press it’s gotten Casino Royale isn’t going to win one weekend. Who cares? Bond is back! See, I’m press too.
Result: $15.1 million (My rank: #2, $2.7m off)
Let’s go to our sideline reporter Jessica Simpson for a moment. “It’s broadcast in 1080i. I totally don’t know what that means, but I want it.” That said, this was a miss rank-wise because I had the weekend coming in too strong.
Result: $11.0 million (My rank: #5, $1.6m off)
This got slaughtered. Although I didn’t have it winning the weekend like a few other sites I can’t figure out what the difference is between this and The Passion of the Christ is. Mel? Mary discrimination? It’s a mystery.
Result: $8.0 million (My rank: #3, $9.5m off)
Who the hell is still seeing this? Seriously, post a comment if you saw this.
Result: $6.6 million (My rank: #8, $.6m off)
You would think I’d learn my lesson that Christmas movies will make money at Christmas, but no, that’s not the case. I refuse to learn.
Result: $5.0 million (My rank: Not Ranked, Infinity off)
Seriously; this Sacha Baron Cohen thing is getting out of hand. I haven’t seen this much love for a guy since any Democrat in last month’s election.
Result: $4.8 million (My rank: #6, $1.9m off)
Ooooh, murdered. Really hurt real bad. Whoever is behind Turistas should go out and start doing shots because they are in the sad panda locker.
Result: $3.5 million (My rank: #4, $9.6m off)
I’ve still got my finger on the pulse of America’s desire to see Stranger Than Fiction. All eight of them. See ya then knuckleheads.
Result: $3.4 million (My rank: #9, $.7m off)
The third casualty of the new releases, that’s three for three. Never fear, next weekend looks more promising.
Result: $2.2 million (My rank: #7, $4.2m off)
