I should really count my victory now because the original Grudge opened huge. Also, please check out the blog I listed at the bottom. I know most of you are short attention spanned so I figured I’d get it out of the way now.
#1 movie predicted correctly: Five Weeks In A Row
1. The Grudge 2 $34.3m
It will be interested to see how much this and Texas bleed each other. I will say the studio doesn’t love this one’s chances, only screening was about when the movie opened.
2. The Departed $15.1m
Why not see it? What else you doing? Charity work? Please.
3. Texas Chainsaw Massage: The Beginning $9.7m
I would have never remade this myself. You just can’t recapture the spirit of the original.
4. Open Season $7.7m
I would take the kids to The Departed personally. Teach them young.
5. Man of the Year $7.2m
The Jamaican version is called Mon of the Year. Okay, that’s really stupid.
6. The Marine 6.5m
I don’t really see how he is a Marine based on the trailer. He seems to just be a loon.
7. Employee of the Month $6.2
I never won employee of the month. I wish I had. I wanted to. I tried. I guess I didn’t sleep with the right people.
8. The Guardian $4.9m
If I were in the Coast Guard I’d think about quitting. The coast is getting dangerous.
9. Jackass: Number Two $3.5m
Why is it loon when the root is lunatic? The English language is a living beast but sometimes I don’t like the way it snorts.
10. One Night with the King $1.6m
This could turn out very embarrassing for me as B-Love says it will make $42.50. He’s probably right but I’ve got to give it a whirl.
