Cube is Not ‘Done Yet’

I had no desire to see Ice Cube in Are We There Yet?, which basically means I have no desire to see Are We Done Yet?, the sequel to the hit family comedy which is apparently underway over at Revolution Studios.

With Ice Cube in tow as the returning star and Steve Carr the director the film is set to begin production in Vancouver in June with plans to lock in Nia Long and Aleisha Allen and Philip Bolden, which would keep the group from the first feature together.

Apparently the sequel picks up the quartet when they move from the big city to the suburbs for an idyllic life. A house renovation leads to chaos, particularly when the contractor who clashes with Cube bonds with his wife and the two kids.

The film is based on the Cary Grant comedy, Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, and the storyline isn’t far from the original as Hank Nelken’s script is being retrofitted into a sequel by David Stem and David Weiss, writers of the original.

Thomas Haden Church was supposed to also be involved in the sequel but since his time is limited due to the shooting of Spider-Man 3 he is off the project.

Are We There Yet? was the second highest grossing film of 2005 with $82 million, and sold 3.7 million DVDs in North America, according to Revolution.
