Levy Enters the ‘Museum’

According to The Hollywood Reporter Shawn Levy will be directing the family comedy A Night at the Museum for 20th Century Fox. At the same time Levy’s production studio, 21 Laps Entertainment has signed a two-year first look deal with the studio and Museum will by the first project under the new deal.

The film centers on a goodhearted but bumbling security guard at the Museum of Natural History who accidentally trips an ancient curse that causes the animals and insects on display to come to life.

The helming duties on Museum were earlier given to Stephen Sommers as he abandoned a remake of When Worlds Collide over at Paramount to take on the project, but now it is all Levy.

Shooting is set to begin early next year and is slated for a holiday 2006 release.
