The only reason I know the name Samaire Armstrong is due to her short stint on “The O.C.” during its first season run, but I would bet we will hear more from this girl in the future and the future is now.
Samaire and Kevin Zegers have been cast as the female and male leads in It’s a Boy Girl Thing, an American high school comedy being produced by Elton John and David Furnish’s Rocket Pictures. Yeah, Elton John is producing movies now.
Nick Hurran, director of Little Black Book, will helm the feature, which just began shooting in Toronto and will apparently move overseas to the UK in November.
The film is described by Variety as a hijinks romantic comedy about next-door neighbors who live worlds apart. Woody Deane (Zegers) and Nell Bedworth (Armstrong) are lifelong sworn enemies, who wake up one day to find themselves in a very strange place: each other’s bodies. In their switched identities, each sets out to destroy the other’s high school reputation.
Also starring in the feature is Sharon Osbourne, Maury Chaykin and Mpho Koaho.
Samaire Armstrong currently plays Ari Gold’s former assistant Emily on HBO’s “Entourage,” recently finished shooting the horror flick Star Alive and will also be featured in the Lindsay Lohan rom-com Just My Luck, currently slated for a March 17, 2006 release.
