FIRST LOOK: Will Ferrell in ‘Winter Passing’

One film that didn’t exactly create a ton of buzz out of the Toronto Film Festival was the drama Winter Passing, but that isn’t stopping us from bringing you the first looks at the feature.

The film is being distributed by Focus Features and stars Will Ferrell, Ed Harris and Zooey Deschanel.

It is billed as a dramatic comedy, or dramedy if you will, and follows the fractious reunion of an estranged father and daughter. Struggling twenty something actress Reese Holden (Deschanel) has been promised $100,000 by book editor Lori Lansky (Amy Madigan), if Reese can secure for publication love letters written by her legendary but reclusive novelist father Don (Harris) to his equally revered late wife – Reese’s mother. Suddenly highly motivated, Reese treks from NYC to Michigan – where she finds Don in flagrant disregard of his own health and living with two younger housemates, practical former grad student Shelly (Amelia Warner) and would-be musician Corbit (Ferrell). Reese, though no angel herself, does not approve of this ad hoc family. But she comes to appreciate her unlikely new “siblings” and, as secrets are revealed, comes to terms with her father and their shared past and future.

Winter Passing is slated for a release in New York and LA on October 28th, but for now you can click here or on the pic of Will and Zooey above to check out the first pics from the film.
