Personally I don’t think Nicole Kidman is cut out for comedy, but the studios tend to disagree. Fox 2000 and Regency Enterprises have set the star to topline the feature film adaptation of Jules Bass’ comic novel Headhunters.
The script will be written by Jez and John Henry Butterworth and will center on four New Jersey women who make way to Monte Carlo and pretend to be rich heiresses in hopes of landing wealthy husbands. There, they are targeted by four down-on-their-luck gigolos trying to pass as wealthy playboys.
Bass’ book also weaves in some side stories including a bit involving three attempted jewel thiefs giving the story a bit of a caper feel, but there is no telling if these story threads will find their way into the film.
With Kidman aboard, however, I expect we will be hearing more casting news for the three other ladies and their gigolo counterparts in the near future. This one has major ensemble cast potential.
Kidman just wrapped filming on the indie pic Fur and has a whole slew of upcoming films in her future.
