New Pics from ‘Pluto’

Cillian Murphy seems to be everywhere this year, and for good reason, this guy can act and it looks like his next flick is going to test his chops all the way.

As you can see from the pic above Murphy will be stepping out of his recent psycho roles for a bit more of a “softer” role as he stars in Breakfast on Pluto.

The synopsis for the film starts off with the following description:

London, mid-1970s. A fashionable young beauty (Cillian Murphy) ambles down the street pushing a pram. Construction workers whistle and catcall on the scaffolding above, but she’s quick with a salty retort; her story, the story of Patrick “Kitten” Braden, is too strong stuff for the likes of them…

Directed by Neil Jordan (The Crying Game, Interview with the Vampire) Pluto follows the exploits of Patrick Braden (Murphy), an endearing, but deceptively tough young man. Abandoned as a baby in his small Irish hometown and aware from a very early age that he is different, Patrick survives this harsh environment with the aid of his wit and charm, plus a sweet refusal to let anyone and anything change who he is. The central question at the heart of Jordan’s feature is “How does somebody survive a deeply aggressive world just by being himself?”

Sounds like a good question to me in this world of never-ending scrutiny, a world I am sure celebrities under the microscope can take to heart.

Breakfast on Pluto will have its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September and will follow with a limited release on November 18th, but for now you can check out our gallery of 30 new stills from the feature by clicking here or on the teaser pic above.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this one either in the Talk Back below or in the forums, it could be damn interesting, right up there with last year’s Bad Education possibly.
