Visual effects supervisor Brian Metcalf will make his directorial debut with Fading of the Cries, a fantasy film he will direct from his own script, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The independently financed film will star Thomas Ian Nicholas, who made his name in the “American Pie” franchise. The plot centers on a young man who defends his town from evil forces, aided by a magic sword.
Metcalf will produce with Karoline Kautz via the pair’s Ratio Pictures. Jordan Matthews also will star.
Metcalf has worked on multimedia spin-offs for such movies as 300 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
