Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt Up for Space Drama, Passengers

Now comes word from Variety that Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence is in talks for the female lead following the attachment of The Imitation Game‘s Morten Tyldum as director, while TheWrap says that Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, upcoming Jurassic World) is in early talks to star opposite Lawrence.

The film takes place on a spacecraft that’s traveling to a distant planet on which a passenger wakes up from a cryogenic sleep 90 years before planned and decides to wake up a female passenger.

Spaihts went on to write Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and Marvel Studios’ upcoming Doctor Strange, largely on the basis of his original screenplay which did the rounds after it appeared on the prestigious The Black List in 2007. (For comparison, other screenplays that appeared on the Black List that year included SelmaSource CodeThe Road, Adventureland, The Wolf of Wall Street, Salt and The Way, Way Back, all of which have been produced and found some degree of success.)

Lawrence will next be seen in two of her biggest franchises, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 later this year and 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse
