Will Ferrell to Headline Shakespearean Theatre Comedy

Will Ferrell is planning on giving audiences an inside look at the competitive world of Shakespearean theatre actors. Variety reports that Ferrell, who starred earlier this year in The LEGO Movie, will headline a currently-untitled comedy feature, portraying just such a thespian.

Pitched by Mosaic, the feature idea was picked up by Sony Pictures and will now be scripted by Dinner with Schmucks and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb scribes David Guion and Michael Handelman.

Ferrell, who also starred this year on the television miniseries “The Spoils of Babylon,” can next be seen starring opposite Kevin Hart in the Warner Bros. comedy Get Hard, set for release March 27, 2015. He’s currently in the process of shooting director James Franco’s adaptation of Steve Erickson’s 2007 novel Zeroville and recently signed on for the Paramount Pictures comedy Daddy’s Home. In the latter, he’s set to star opposite Mark Wahlberg with the Horrible Bosses 2 pair of John Morris and Sean Anders directing.

Michael De Luca and Jonathan Kadin will oversee the new comedy for Sony Pictures.
