Avatar: Fire and Ash just lost its crown on Disney+, and the film that dethroned it is not what anyone expected. The new number one title on the platform’s charts overtook the James Cameron sequel after a 25-day reign.
New Descendants movie just knocked Avatar: Fire and Ash off the top on Disney+
Descendants: Wicked Wonderland has claimed the number one spot on the Disney+ top 10 charts in the United States. According to FlixPatrol, the film topped both the overall and movies charts on July 20, 2026. The sequel pushed Avatar: Fire and Ash down to the second position on both lists.
Disney Channel originally premiered the film on July 16, 2026. The movie then arrived on Disney Plus the following day, on July 17. Kimmy Gatewood directed the musical fantasy comedy from a screenplay by Tamara Chestna, Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer. The film serves as the fifth installment in the Descendants franchise.
Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker reprise their roles as Red and Chloe Charming, respectively. New cast members include Liamani Segura as Pink, Brendon Tremblay as Max Hatter, and Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal. Awkwafina voices the new character Chessy Cheshire, while Rita Ora and Brandy return as the Queen of Hearts and Cinderella. Joel Oulette, Zavien Garrett, and Kiara Romero also join the cast as new VK characters.
The film follows Red and Chloe as they return to Wonderland to rescue Bridget from Maddox Hatter. Leonardo Nam plays Maddox, who uses magical cards to seize control of Wonderland after discovering the hidden Pocketwatch. The story also introduces several new characters, including the children of Robin Hood, Captain Hook, and Dr. Facilier.
Avatar: Fire and Ash had held the top spot on Disney Plus for 25 consecutive days before this shift. Moana 2 currently sits at third place with 33 days on the chart. The Descendants franchise continues to perform strongly for Disney, with the original Descendants film also re-entering the top 10 at number eight. Spider-Man titles dominate the remaining positions, with No Way Home, Far from Home, and Homecoming all charting on the platform simultaneously.
