Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige teases what the MCU will look like after Avengers: Secret Wars. The film will follow this year’s Avengers: Doomsday with fans speculating that it’ll reset the universe. However, Feige’s intriguing comments suggest something different.
What did Kevin Feige say about Avengers: Secret Wars’ ending and the MCU’s
In a new interview with Happy Sad Confused’s Josh Horowitz, Kevin Feige was asked what the MCU will look like after Secret Wars and whether he considers it to be a reboot. Surprisingly, he denied plans for a full reboot.
“No, but I look to the comics as I always do in terms of our storytelling,” Feige said. “After both the Secret Wars (comic storylines), but particularly the Hickman Secret Wars from 10 years ago, there’s a nice road map to where we can go.”
Jonathan Hickman’s 2015 comic book miniseries Secret Wars ended with the multiverse being restored, with many new worlds ready to be explored. Feige appears to be teasing a roadmap that follows the general direction of Hickman’s miniseries. Most famously, the Secret Wars miniseries brought Miles Morales from the Ultimate universe to the prime Marvel universe.
Miles has yet to make his live-action debut, but a similar path could be followed by bringing characters from different universes, like the X-Men and Fantastic Four, to the Sacred Timeline. The Secret Wars comic also ends with Reed Richards using the Beyonder’s powers to heal Doctor Doom’s scarred face. Following this, Doom becomes the Infamous Iron Man. It remains to be seen how Marvel Studios resolves the storyline of the Multiverse Saga.
Marvel Studios recently released the first trailer for Doomsday, which brings back Steve Rogers and sets a collision course between three distinct universes. Marvel is also developing an X-Men reboot, which will feature a new team of mutants.
Avengers: Doomsday releases in theaters on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled to release on December 17, 2027.
