HBO Films has attached Kevin Bacon to star in and Ross Katz to direct its Iraq war pic Taking Chance, reports Variety.
Bacon will play Lt. Col. Michael Strobl, an officer who accompanies the body of fallen U.S. soldier Chance Phelps as it is returned home from Iraq for a burial in Wyoming.
Strobl is writing the script with Katz, adapting it from Strobl’s short story of the same name.
The project is set to go into production this summer. Movie will air on the net, likely in 2008.
