Hollywood North Report has learned that The Exorcism of Emily Rose director Scott Derrickson will helm 20th Century Fox’s remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, prepping for a shoot in Vancouver and will film there until November.
The film is based on Robert Wise’s 1951 sci-fi classic about an alien man and his robot who come to earth in a saucer-shape spacecraft.
The studio has scheduled a May 9, 2008 release for the film.
