“Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl will topline the romantic comedy 27 Dresses. Written by The Devil Wears Prada screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, the film will be directed by Anne Fletcher (Step Up.
Production begins in New York and Rhode Island in May when Heigl goes on hiatus from the series.
Heigl will play a single woman who has served as a bridesmaid 27 times. She is enlisted once again for the job, and this time it’s particularly painful: Her sister is marrying the man the bridesmaid is madly in love with.
Dana Fox (The Wedding Date) did a rewrite of McKenna’s original script, and McKenna is returning to do a final pass before production begins.
Heigl can next be seen on the big screen in Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up, opening June 1 and co-starring Seth Rogen.
