Mufasa: The Lion King Trailer Release Time Confirmed Alongside New Screenshot

The Mufasa: The Lion King trailer release time has been revealed, with the first footage of the hitting the internet sooner than expected. Being one of the more anticipated films releasing in 2024, its trailer could break some viewership records. Good Morning America has the exclusive on the trailer, further building hype for the movie.

Mufasa: The Lion King trailer release date and time announced

The first footage of Barry Jenkins’ Mufasa: The Lion King will be released worldwide on April 29, 2024 between 7 AM and 9 AM ET.

Promised to debut exclusively on Good Morning America, The Lion King prequel’s trailer will be released during the show’s two-hour duration. This will be its first public release following Disney playing a version of the teaser at CinemaCon earlier this month.

Before the events that saw Simba’s rise to glory, the upcoming prequel brings the origin story of Mufasa to life. It uses similar photorealistic CGI to reveal how Mufasa rose to power before being betrayed by Scar.

The following new look at Mufasa: The Lion King was revealed on Sunday, April 28, 2024:

GMA announced the movie’s trailer release on X — formerly Twitter — along with the above screenshot of young Mufasa. Prior to this new image, the first look at the film was revealed earlier this year during Disney’s annual shareholder meeting.

Written by Jeff Nathanson, the official logline of Mufasa: The Lion King reads:

“The movie will follow the rise of one of Pride Lands’ greatest kings, returns to the savannah where Rafiki tells Kiara – Simba and Nala’s daughter – the story of her grandfather, with some comments coming from Timon and Pumbaa,”

The film features the voices of Aaron Pierre as the titular lion, Mufasa. It also stars Penny Johnson Jerald as Sarafina, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as Scar, Billy Eichner as Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, and John Kani as Rafiki, among others.
