Universal Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the Monkey Man digital release date for its newest action thriller, which hails from lead star Dev Patel in his feature directorial debut. This comes after the film had made its theatrical debut earlier this month.

Monkey Man will be available to rent or own on digital platforms starting tomorrow, April 23. At the moment, the film currently holds a Certified Fresh Rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 258 reviews.
“Inspired by the legend of Hanuman, an icon embodying strength and courage, the film follows Kid, an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash,” reads the official synopsis. “After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him.”
Monkey Man was directed and co-written by Dev Patel, who’s also serving as a producer alongside Oscar winner Jordan Peele. The film also stars Sharlto Copley as Tiger, Pitobash as Alphonso, Vipin Sharma as Alpha, Sikandar Kher as Rana, Adithi Kalkunte as Neela, Sobhita Dhulipala as Sita, Ashwini Kalsekar as Queenie, Makarand Deshpande, Jatin Malik, and Zakir Hussain.
