Harry Potter’s Jessie Cave Responds to Miriam Margolyes’ Comments on Adult Fans

Ron Weasley’s ex-girlfriend is not having it. Harry Potter alum Jessie Cave has shared her thoughts on Miriam Margolyes’ latest comments against adult fans who “should be over” the Harry Potter craze by now.

While the Harry Potter franchise has retained most of its fans since the late ‘90s and early 2000s (all of whom are now considered adults), Margolyes — who played Hufflepuff professor Pomona Sprout — expressed her worries over fans who are still into the franchise.

However, Cave, who portrayed Lavender Brown in the three Harry Potter film installments, was not happy about her co-star’s opinion.

“It’s such a shame that that happened. You know how she is — she’s just a bit funny. And I think she didn’t mean for it to be taken like that, I hope . . . I really don’t like that she said that,” Cave said in an interview during her appearance at Dream it Con (via Deadline).

Cave first played Lavender Brown in 2009 with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and went on to appear in the last two Deathly Hallows installments.

Miriam Margolyes thinks fans should have outgrown Harry Potter by now

In an interview with 1News, Margolyes shared that it’s time for adult Harry Potter fans to grow up.

“I worry about Harry Potter fans because they should be over that by now. It was 25 years ago, and it’s for children. I think it’s for children,” said Margolyes.

She added, “They get stuck in it. I do Cameos, and people say, ‘We’re having a Harry Potter-themed wedding,’ and I think, ‘Gosh, what’s their first night of fun going to be?’ I can’t even think about it. No.”

And while she’s happy about being a part of the Harry Potter universe, the actress went on to say that the franchise “was 25 years ago” and encouraged fans to “grow up.”
