An audience member at a Love Lies Bleeding showing in Detroit was arrested after allegedly masturbating during a screening of the film.
After a NSFW post by X (formerly Twitter) user “UglyXKorean” began going viral, Variety reported that the Southgate Police Department in Detroit had confirmed that a patron was arrested on Thursday for the lewd act.
“Went to go see ‘Love Lies Bleeding’ and this drunk guy jacked himself off to sleep,” read the tweet’s caption, with the photo also showing the patron having two bottle of liquor and cigarettes at his side.
Currently, no arraignment has been held, and the man is still in police custody as of Friday morning.

Described as an electric new love story, Love Lies Bleeding stars Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian. “The film centers around a reclusive gym manager Lou who falls hard for Jackie, an ambitious bodybuilder headed through town to Vegas in pursuit of her dream.” reads the synopsis. “But their love ignites violence, pulling them deep into the web of Lou’s criminal family.”
Love Lies Bleeding is directed by Rose Glass from a screenplay she co-wrote with Weronika Tofilska. This marks Glass’ second collaboration with A24 following her feature-length directorial debut Saint Maud in 2019. Joining Stewart and O’Brian are Jena Malone, Anna Baryshnikov with Dave Franco and Ed Harris. It is executive produced by Daniel Battsek, David Kimbangi, Susan Kirr, and Ollie Madden, with Andrea Cornwell and Oliver Kassman producing.
