Karate Kid Cast Adds Marvel & Disney Star Ming-Na Wen

For the second time in one day, the Karate Kid cast for the newest movie in the series has grown. This time, Marvel and Disney star Ming-Na Wen has signed on.

Variety has reported that Ming-Na Wen will play a role in the new Karate Kid movie, though specifics about her part are currently being kept under wraps. The actress joins The Goldbergs star Sadie Stanley, who also was revealed to be part of the upcoming film earlier today.

Some of Wen’s most famed roles include that of Melinda May in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch, and Mulan in the 1998 animated Disney movie and in the video game sequel Kingdom Hearts II.

Who else is starring in the new Karate Kid movie?

The new Karate Kid movie will star American Born Chinese’s Ben Wang, with Joshua Jackson having joined the cast as well. Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio are also reprising their respective roles as Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso in the movie.

Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps at this time, though it’s known that it will largely be set on the East Coast and focus on a teenager from China. The new Karate Kid movie is currently scheduled to release on December 13, 2024.
