Per The Hollywood Reporter, Stanley will play the romantic lead in the new Karate Kid movie that’s being directed by Jonathan Entwistle.

Stanley’s character will be the daughter of Joshua Jackson’s character in the film. Further details are being kept under wraps at this time.

Along with playing Brea Bee on The Goldbergs, Stanley portrayed the titular character in the made-for-TV Kim Possible movie that premiered on Disney Channel in 2019. She’s also starred in shows such as Dead to Me and Cruel Summer, while she’s appeared in movies such as 2020’s The Sleepover, 2021’s Let Us In, and 2022’s Somewhere in Queens.

What do we know about the new Karate Kid movie?

The new Karate Kid movie will star American Born Chinese’s Ben Wang. Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio are also reprising their respective roles as Mr. Han and Daniel LaRusso in the movie.

Plot details for the film are being kept under wraps at this time, though it’s known that it will largely be set on the East Coast and focus on a teenager from China.

Macchio played LaRusso in 1984’s The Karate Kid and two sequels, 1986’s The Karate Kid Part II and 1989’s The Karate Kid Part III. He reprised the role in the Cobra Kai series, which will debut its final season on Netflix later this year. It’s not yet clear if the new Karate Kit movie will play into the events of Cobra Kai.

The new Karate Kid movie is currently scheduled to release on December 13, 2024.
