Emma Stone and Yorgos Lanthimos Could Reunite for Save the Green Planet Remake

Emma Stone is in talks to star in Yorgos Lanthimos’ new film, a remake of 2003’s Save the Green Planet!

Per Variety, Stone is being eyed to star in Lanthimos’ next movie, which is expected to begin filming this summer in the United Kingdom and New York. Stone would likely play a supporting role in the film, should the deal be finalized.

Stone and Lanthimos first worked together on 2018’s The Favourite, which also starred Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz. They then collaborated on Poor Things, which is nominated for several Oscars at the 96th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actress.

Additionally, Lanthimos has filmed an anthology film, Kinds of Kindness, that co-stars Stone alongside Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, Hong Chau, Joe Alwyn, Mamoudou Athie, and Hunter Schafer. Kinds of Kindness does not yet have a release date from Searchlight Pictures.

Midsommar and Beau is Afraid’s Ari Aster is producing Lanthimos’ remake alongside Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe.

What is Save the Green Planet! about?

Directed by Jang Joon-hwan, Save the Green Planet! is a South Korean comedy movie starring Shin Ha-kyun and Baek Yoon-sik.

He believes that Kang Man-shik, the head of a chemical production company, is their leader, and he kidnaps him. Holing up in his secret lair, Byeong-gu interrogates and tortures the supposed alien, hoping that he will confess to his crimes against humanity and call off the planned destruction of the planet before it is too late.
