New Dracula Movie Directed by Luc Besson and Starring Christoph Waltz Announced

The Fifth Element director Luc Besson is turning to the Gothic classic Dracula next, with Christoph Waltz and Caleb Landry-Jones involved.

Dracula Lives Again

The French director will adapt Bram Stoker’s classic horror story where 15th century Prince Vladimir cursed God following the death of his beloved wife and is turned into a vampire. Later, in 19th-century London, he discovers his wife’s doppelgänger and dooms himself by pursuing her.

Christoph Waltz and Caleb Landry-Jones are currently in talks to star in the picture. Besson’s EuropaCorp will produce it.

If Landry-Jones signs on, it will be a reteaming with Besson after last year’s revenge-thriller Dogman, which premiered at Venice Film Festival.

Dracula is one of the most adapted horror stories of all time with notable iterations including Tod Browning’s 1931 Universal Monsters launchpad starring the iconic Bela Lugosi, and Francis Ford-Coppola’s divisive take starring Gary Oldman. over the years, the titular character has also been played by Christopher Lee, Rutger Hauer, Nicolas Cage, Frank Langella, and Jack Palance.
