Fast and Furious Zach Dean

New Fast & Furious Movie Being Written by The Tomorrow War’s Zach Dean

The Tomorrow War’s Zach Dean has reportedly been tapped to write a movie in the Fast & Furious franchise.

According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider, Universal has tapped Dean to write a mystery project in the Fast & Furious franchise. Dean shares a story credit on 2023’s Fast X, while he also wrote the screenplay for the Chris Pratt-starring The Tomorrow War, which was released in 2021.

The article details that it’s possible Dean is either working on the sequel to Fast X (which will be the eleventh movie in the main Fast & Furious franchise) or the spin-off movie with Dwayne Johnson and Jason Momoa (which, according to Sneider, is no longer being called Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes).

It’s also possible that Dean is working on something else entirely that doesn’t involve Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs or Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto. Further details are not available at this time.

The Hobbs and Reyes spin-off is coming before Fast and Furious 11

Fast & Furious 11 was officially announced in April 2023. Louis Leterrier, who replaced Justin Lin on Fast X, is returning to direct, while Christina Hodson and Oren Uziel were tapped to write the screenplay.

The spin-off movie with Johnson’s Hobbs and Momoa’s Dante Reyes, meanwhile, is being written by Chris Morgan, who has written a number of movies in the franchise already (2006’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, 2009’s Fast & Furious, 2011’s Fast Five, 2013’s Fast & Furious 6, 2015’s Furious 7, 2017’s The Fate of the Furious, and 2019’s Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw).

A director has not yet been attached to the project, which will serve as a direct continuation of Fast X and then lead into the eleventh movie in the main series.

Fast X is currently streaming on Prime Video.
