Minecraft Movie Adds The White Lotus’ Jennifer Coolidge to Cast

The White Lotus’ Jennifer Coolidge has joined the cast of the upcoming Minecraft movie.

Per Deadline, Coolidge has joined the cast of the live-action Minecraft movie, which is being filmed in New Zealand. Who Coolidge is playing in the film is unclear at this time as no further details were given.

Coolidge played Tanya McQuoid in both seasons of HBO’s The White Lotus, a role which she won an Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie Emmy Award for in 2022 and, just recently, an Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series Emmy Award for in 2023.

She’s also known for starring in 1999’s American Pie, 2001’s Legally Blonde, 2004’s A Cinderella Story, 2006’s Click, and 2023’s Shotgun Wedding. She’s also attached to star in Riff Raff, an upcoming movie from director Dito Montiel that co-stars Dustin Hoffman, Brian Cox, Gabrielle Union, Pete Davidson, Ed Harris, and Bill Murray.

What else do we know about the live-action Minecraft movie?

Joining Coolidge in the Minecraft movie are Jack Black (School of Rock, The Super Mario Bros. Movie), Jason Momoa (Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom), Emma Myers (Wednesday), Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple, Peacemaker), and Sebastian Eugene Hansen (Just Mercy, Lisey’s Story).

The film is being directed by Jared Hess, who previously made 2004’s Napoleon Dynamite, 2006’s Nacho Libre, and 2015’s Masterminds, among other titles.

Plot details for the Minecraft movie are being kept under wraps at this time. The movie is being produced by Mary Parent, Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Cale Boyter, Momoa, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui, and the late Jill Messick, while Todd Hallowell, Kayleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, and Jonathan Spaihts serve as executive producers.

The live-action Minecraft movie is currently scheduled to release in United States theaters on April 4, 2025, from Warner Bros.
