Wes Anderson’s New Movie Will Reportedly Star Bill Murray, New Details Emerge

Wes Anderson’s new movie will reportedly star Bill Murray.

According to World of Reel, Murray and Anderson will reunite on Anderson’s next film, which is reportedly expected to begin filming in April 2024.

Anderson and Murray have worked together a number of times in the past, including on titles such as 1998’s Rushmore, 2001’s The Royal Tenenbaums, 2004’s The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, 2007’s The Darjeeling Limited, 2009’s Fantastic Mr. Fox, 2012’s Moonrise Kingdom, 2014’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, 2018’s Isle of Dogs, and 2021’s The French Dispatch.

What else do we know about Wes Anderson’s new movie?

A separate World of Reel article says that the film may have a possible working title of “The Pheonican Scheme.” While plot details remain under wraps at this time, Anderson has previously referred to his new movie as an “espionage” thriller that deals with a father-daughter relationship.

Speaking with Deadline in September 2023, Anderson said he had just finished writing the script for his new movie when the Writers Guild of America (WGA) began in May 2023. “Well, before the Writer’s Guild strike began, we had just finished a script,” he said. “Roman Coppola and I had been working on a script. So, when the time is right again, we’ve got a movie to make with Benicio Del Toro.”

Anderson also revealed that Arrested Development and Barbie’s Michael Cera will play a role in this film. “Well, you know, we have Michael Cera,” he said. “He’s one of the other characters in this new story. And he’s somebody I probably met, I think, close to 20 years ago. At least 18 years ago, something like that. I met him with Harvey Keitel, so it must have been 2008 or something. But, anyway, Michael Cera. That’s one.”

A release date for Anderson’s new movie has not yet been set.
