Berlin Character Posters Introduce the New Thieving Crew

While Money Heist fans have grown to love Tokyo, Nairobi, Denver, and Rio throughout the Spanish series’ five seasons, a new prequel spin-off will introduce a new heist crew to root for when Berlin arrives on Netflix on December 29, 2023. The streamer has released the character posters for the upcoming series, showing the individuals comprising the Berlin-led, thieving team.

The newly released posters introduce Pedro Alonso’s Berlin — a fan-favorite jewel thief that has appeared in the original series — as the “the heart of [the] heist” in Paris. On the other hand, Damian, who will be played by Tristán Ulloa, serves as the heist’s “brains.”

Keila and Bruce — portrayed by Michelle Jenner and Joel Sánchez, respectively — are shaping up to be the show’s rivals. Lastly, the show is anticipated to highlight the building tension between Julio Peña Fernández’s Roi and Begoña Vargas’s Cameron.

What is Berlin about?

Serving as the Money Heist’s first stand-alone spin-off, Berlin — which will arrive two years after the original show’s final season — is set to trace back into Berlin’s story during his prime. The eight-episode series hails from Money Heist creators Esther Martínez Lobato and Álex Pina.

“Berlin says there are only two things that can turn a bad day into a great one: love and a million-dollar payday. This is what keeps him razor focused on his lofty goals. So he’s preparing one of his most extreme heists yet — disappearing $44 million worth of jewels,” the synopsis reads. “But first, he’ll need to enlist the help of some savvy criminals: Keila, a cybersecurity mastermind; Damián, an academic and Berlin’s close friend; Cameron, a loose cannon who lives life on the edge; Roi, a locksmith and Berlin’s faithful sidekick; and Bruce, who’s fluent in gadgets and weaponry.”

Besides Alonso returning to reprise his iconic role, Najwa Nimri will also return as Alicia Sierra and Itziar Ituño as Raquel Murillo. The two will appear in the series as part of the police force before eventually joining the other side, with Raquel — referred to as Lisbon — forming a romantic relationship with the heist’s mastermind, The Professor (Álvaro Morte).

Berlin hits Netflix on December 29.
