Love Actually 4K Rerelease Set for 20th Anniversary

Love is just around the corner as StudioCanal and Universal Pictures are rereleasing Richard Curtis’ 2003 film Love Actually in a new 4K restoration globally. Just in time for the Christmas countdown, the rerelease also coincides with the beloved holiday classic’s 20th anniversary.

According to Variety, the hit Christmas romantic comedy will also be released digitally and on home video in the U.S. on November 21 and in France on December 6. In addition to the 4K and home entertainment rerelease, which includes an all-new featurette of the ensemble cast, the film will also be getting a theatrical rerelease in late November and December. It comes with a 10-minute introduction that will reportedly highlight Love Actually’s memorable moments.

“I’m really excited about this new version of the film; it’s never looked or sounded better. And, although I’m slightly shocked by how old I’ve got, I loved the featurette, which is full of new thoughts and memories about the film from all the people who made it,” Curtis told Variety.

Love Actually has continued to be a holiday classic 20 years since its release

A film described as the “pinnacle of British cinema,” Love Actually — released during the holiday season in 2003 — featured impressive performances from award-winning actors like Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Keira Knightley, Alan Rickman, Liam Neeson, Bill Nighy, Andrew Lincoln, Colin Firth, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Laura Linney, Martin Freeman, and Gregor Fisher, among others.

The synopsis for Love Actually reads as follows: “Nine intertwined stories examine the complexities of the one emotion that connects us all: love. Among the characters explored are David (Hugh Grant), the handsome newly elected British prime minister who falls for a young junior staffer (Martine McCutcheon), Sarah (Laura Linney), a graphic designer whose devotion to her mentally ill brother complicates her love life, and Harry (Alan Rickman), a married man tempted by his attractive new secretary.”
