Dwayne Johnson Says Inaccurate Wax Figure Will Get ‘Important Details and Improvements’

Dwayne Johnson says that a wax figure of him that went viral over the weekend will be getting updated to include some “important details and improvements.”

The figure, which was unveiled earlier this month Musée Grévin in Paris, quickly drew criticism from fans due to its lightened skin tone and other inaccuracies.

Many pointed out the fact that the statue looked more like Mr. Clean than it did to Johnson, and in an Instagram post in which he shares comedian James Andre Jefferson Jr.’s jokes about it, said that he’s reached out to the museum.

“Knew my boy James Andre Jefferson Jr. had this Rock wax statue in his roasting crosshairs,” Johnson wrote in the caption of the video. “For the record, I’m going to have my team reach out to our friends at Grevin Museum in Paris France so we can work at ‘updating’ my wax figure here with some important details and improvements — starting with my skin color. And next time I’m in Paris, I’ll stop in and have a drink with myself.”

The Musée Grévin museum weighs in on the issue

As the jokes poured in, the museum also reacted to the news. It issued a statement to Today that said that Johnson was right, and the situation will be remedied post haste.

“We noticed it and will obviously remedy it as quickly as possible and send him new photos once completed,” a spokesperson for the museum said. “We are waiting for him when he will come to Paris and the Grevin Wax Museum to celebrate that with a cup of champagne.”
