Saw X Parody Promo Sees Jigsaw Reflecting on Past Tortures

Ahead of the Saw franchise’s return to theaters, Lionsgate has released a clip of Jigsaw parodying Nicole Kidman’s iconic AMC advertisement.

The 10th Saw installment will arrive in theaters on September 29, set to bring back one of the most popular horror franchises in cinema history. But before Jigsaw returns for another round of bloody games and tortures, Lionsgate has released a parody promo that showcases the notorious serial killer in a different, playful light.

“Somehow, Self-Amputation Feels Good in a Place Like This.”

In the clip, which is a direct reference to AMC’s “We Make Movies Better” commercial, Jigsaw visited a movie theater to look back on his past tortures. The lines were almost identical to those in the said commercial, with some words replaced to match Jigsaw’s murderous nature. While the AMC ad portrays Kidman as a moviegoer who’s seeking the “magic” of it all, Jigsaw comes to theaters “for reawakening.”

Of course, to make things more hilarious, Jigsaw uttered Kidman’s now-iconic, campy line, “Somehow heartbreak feels good in a place like this,” replacing the word “heartbreak” with “self-amputation.”

Saw X Continues the Franchise’s Legacy

Saw began as a short film back in 2003, which led to a feature-length film inspired by the short James Wan directed. The film spawned multiple sequels, with the 2021 spin-off, Spiral, serving as the ninth. And now, with Saw X looming closer on the horizon, the upcoming film will see the return of Tobin Bell as John Kramer, picking up the events between the first film and Saw II in 2005.

In addition to Bell, other cast members include Shawnee Smith, Steven Brand, Synnøve Macody Lund, Joshua Okamoto, Michael Beach, Octavio Hinojosa, Paulette Hernandez, and Renata Vaca.

The official synopsis for Saw X reads as follows: “The most chilling installment of the SAW franchise yet explores the untold chapter of Jigsaw’s most personal game. Set between the events of SAW I and II, a sick and desperate John travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure in hopes of a miracle cure for his cancer — only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, John returns to his work, turning the tables on the con artists in his signature visceral way through a series of ingenious and terrifying traps.”

Saw X arrives in theaters on “#SawTenber 29.” You can watch the trailer for the upcoming horror feature below.
