Tenoch Huerta Exits Netflix Film After Sexual Assault Allegations

Following allegations of sexual assault made against him, actor Tenoch Huerta has exited the upcoming Netflix film Fiesta en la Madriguera, according to Variety.

Huerta focused on restoring his reputation

Huerta confirmed that he had exited the film in a recent statement shared with Variety, saying that he “had no choice” but to leave the feature due to “the recent false statements” made against him. Huerta said that he didn’t want to harm the rest of the people involved with the film and would now be trying to work on restoring his reputation.

“Given the impact of the recent false statements by María Elena Ríos and the damage they have caused, I have no choice but to withdraw from participating in the film Fiesta en la Madriguera,” reads the statement. “It is with great sadness that I do this, but I cannot allow her actions to harm not only me, but also the work of dozens of talented and hard-working people involved in the project. My focus now is simple: continue the process of restoring my reputation.”

Earlier this month, musician María Elena Ríos took to social media to claim that Huerta had sexually assaulted her, calling him “a violator and sexual predator.” In a thread, Ríos said that “it is very difficult to talk about the emotional abuse and abuse of power of a sexual predator who is loved in the world for playing a character in a movie like Tenoch Huerta.”

She also took aim at activist organization Poder Prieto, which she claimed protected Huerta after the group (which she worked for in the past) shared a podcast featuring her.
