Summit Sets Dates for Kevin Costner’s Criminal and Jason Statham’s Mechanic: Resurrection

Last night, Lionsgate set two release dates for movies from Summit Entertainment, with the Kevin Costner crime-thriller Criminal coming out on August 21, 2015 and the newly-named Jason Statham action sequel Mechanic: Resurrection set for January 22, 2016.

The sequel to The Mechanic, which was released by CBS Films in 2011, “Resurrection” brings back Statham as his hitman character Arthur Bishop. It began filming earlier this week in Bangkok, Thailand with German director Dennis Gansel (We Are the Night) at the helm with Statham joined by Tommy Lee Jones, Jessica Alba and Michelle Yeoh. Right now, it’s the only movie set for that late January weekend but that’s likely to change.

Directed by Ariel Vromen (The Iceman), Criminal stars Costner as a dangerous criminal who has had the memories and skills of a CIA agent implanted into his brain. It also co-stars Tommy Lee Jones, along with Ryan Reynolds, Gary Oldman, Gal “Wonder Woman” Gadot and Alice Eve.
