Captain America 4 Producer Teases Clash for Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross

The upcoming fourth entry in the Captain America series will feature the return of a feud that has been brewing since Captain America: Civil War.

Speaking with Collider in a recent interview, Marvel VP of Production & Development Nate Moore noted that with Harrison Ford stepping in to portray General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross for the late William Hurt, the tension between Ross and Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson will continue to be highlighted.

“Harrison Ford is taking on the role of General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, and to see Sam Wilson and Thunderbolt Ross, which if you remember actually threw him in prison at the end of Civil War because he violated the Sokovia Accords,” Moore said. “There’s going to be some natural sparks there, which I think are going to be really fun.”

While the Sokovia Accords were revealed to have been repealed in the Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, the world of Captain America has always been heavily affected by them. Although Sam Wilson is now taking on the mantle of Captain America, it’s unlikely that he would be happy with anything to do with Ross, though only time will tell.

Not much else is currently known about Captain America: New World Order, aside from Mackie taking up the mantle as Captain America. This was all set up during the Disney+ series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier as Mackie’s Falcon decided to continue Steve Rogers’ legacy by carrying the shield. No word yet if Chris Evans will turn up in the movie, although the actor has been hesitant about an MCU return as Rogers.

The film will be penned by Malcolm Spellman, who was the creator and head writer of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, and Dalan Musson, who also worked on the Disney+ series.
