Jason Bateman to Helm Netflix Thriller Film Dark Wire

According to Deadline, Ozark star Jason Bateman has officially signed on to direct Netflix’s film adaptation of Dark Wire, based on journalist Joseph Cox’s upcoming novel of the same name. The project hails from Shawn Levy who is serving as a producer through his 21 Laps banner.

Dark Wire will be directed by Bateman from a screenplay written by Matthew Orton. This marks the acclaimed actor-filmmaker’s latest project with Netflix following the series conclusion of the acclaimed crime drama Ozark. Apart from the upcoming thriller, Bateman will also be next be seen starring in Netflix’s Taron Egerton-led thriller film Carry On.

Cox’s novel “uncovers the true story of how the FBI launched a fake telecom company and became a phone service provider to some of the world’s most notorious gangs, culminating in the arrest of more than a thousand international criminals,” reads the synopsis.

Dark Wire will be produced by Levy, Dan Cohen, and Dan Levine for 21 Laps along with Bateman and Michael Costigan through the Aggregate Films banner. It will be executive produced by Tracey Nyberg.
