A third chapter in the dystopic thriller franchise is on the way today as Deadline confirms that The Purge: Anarchy helmer James DeMonaco will return for third entry in Blumhouse Productions, Platinum Dunes and Universal Pictures’ The Purge series.
Details for the plot of the third film have yet to be revealed, but it will once again return audiences to a world wherein, for one night out of the year, all crime –including murder — is made legal.
The Purge: Anarchy has grossed an estimated $108 million worldwide with the original turning in more than $89 million.
Although the film hasn’t officially been set for any release date as of yet, the franchise’s marketing tagline of referring to the Purge as “an annual tradition,” means that we’re likely to see a third film in theaters sometime in 2015.
