“The film follows screenwriter Adam (Scott) who, one night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, has a chance encounter with his mysterious neighbor Harry (Mescal) that punctures the rhythm of his everyday life,” reads the synopsis. “As Adam and Harry get closer, Adam is pulled back to his childhood home where he discovers that his long-dead parents (Foy and Bell) are both living and look the same age as the day they died over 30 years ago.”

Strangers will be written and directed by Andrew Haigh, who’s best known for his work on films such as Weekend and Lean on Pete. The adaptation is a co-production by Searchlight Pictures, Film4, and Blueprint Pictures.

Producers are Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, and Sarah Harvey, with Ben Knight, Diarmuid McKeown, Ollie Madden, Daniel Battsek, and Farhana Bhula serving as executive producers. The project will be overseen by DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas on behalf of Searchlight, as well as Jaya Campbell, Apolline Berty, and Kim Tance.
