Fast X Set Photos Tease Return of Charlize Theron’s Cipher

As production continues on Fast X, Oscar winner Charlize Theron took to Instagram to reveal the first behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Universal Pictures’ upcoming tenth installment of The Fast Saga. The photos, which you check out below, provide us with our first look at Cipher’s return as the antagonist sports a new hairstyle.

The Vin Diesel-led penultimate sequel is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 19, 2023. Its current theatrical release date will see the film going up against no direct competition. However, it will still be debuting in the same month as two other high-profile projects including Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the live-action The Little Mermaid movie.

Fast X is being directed by Justin Lin from a screenplay written by Chris Morgan. Lin is also set to serve as the director for the final installment. Even though the official cast hasn’t been announced, it’s highly likely that franchise alums Vin Diesel, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Sung Kang are expected to reprise their respective roles.

The tenth installment will feature the additions of franchise newcomers  Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Daniela Melchior (The Suicide Squad), and Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), with Momoa expected to portray the antagonist.

Based on the characters created by Gary Scott Thompson, the latest installment took the family around the globe from London to Tokyo, from Central America to Edinburgh, and from a secret bunker in Azerbaijan to the teeming streets of Tbilisi. Along the way, old friends will be resurrected, old foes will return, history will be rewritten, and the true meaning of family will be tested like never before.

The franchise began in 2001 with the release of Fast & Furious, which was followed by a number of sequels, spin-offs, video games, and merchandise. The cinematic franchise currently has a combined worldwide gross of more than $6 billion.
